According to data from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, five car manufacturers saw a greater year-on-year sales increase during October than any other in Australia.

Excluding extreme low-volume makes (for instance, Rolls-Royce had a 100 per cent increase in sales as they sold eight cars during October compared to four last year), here are the fastest-growing car manufacturers in Australia.

1. Chery

The Hybrid variant joined the Chery Tiggo 4 lineup in August this year

During October 2025, Chery sold 3,550 cars in Australia, marking a 145.2 per cent increase in sales compared to the same month last year.

The Chery Tiggo 4 small SUV spearheaded the brand’s sales during the month, with 1,975 examples sold. It’s also been Chery’s best-selling model this year, racking up 15,864 sales in 2025 as of the end of October. For reference, Chery sold 12,603 cars in total in Australia last year.

In April this year, the facelifted Tiggo 4 (which dropped the “Pro” from the end of its badge) landed in Aussie showrooms. The Hybrid variant was also added to the lineup in August.

As for the rest of Chery’s lineup, during October, the mid-size Tiggo 7 accounted for 649 sales, the C5 and E5 made up 522 sales, and 404 examples of the seven-seat Tiggo 8 were sold in Australia.

2. BYD

The BYD Sealion 7 outsold the Tesla Model Y during October, making it the best-selling EV for the month

With a 128.6 per cent increase in sales compared to October last year, BYD is currently the second-fastest growing manufacturer in Australia.

BYD sold 3,959 cars during October, compared to 1,732 cars during the same month last year. All up, the brand has sold 41,882 cars during 2025, compared to 16,913 by the same time last year.

During October, the Sealion 7 accounted for over a third of BYD’s sales, with 1,341 sold. It significantly outsold its primary competitor, the Tesla Model Y, by some 606 cars, comprehensively cementing itself as Australia’s best-selling electric car during the month.

The Plug-In Hybrid Shark 6 ute was the brand’s best-selling vehicle, with 1,070 examples sold, followed by the Sealion 6 (660), Atto 3 (318), Dolphin (311), and the Seal (259).

3. Genesis

The G70 made up the vast majority of Genesis sales in Australia in October

Genesis was the third and final manufacturer to see a year-on-year sales increase north of 100 per cent during October.

Compared to the likes of Chery and BYD, the luxury brand’s outright volume is fairly low, but with 142 cars sold during the month, Genesis had a 102.9 per cent sales increase compared to October last year.

The brand’s sales were overwhelmingly led by the GV70 mid-size premium SUV, with 108 examples sold during the month compared to just 39 the previous year.

It was followed by the GV80 Coupe (16), the GV80 wagon (14), the G80 (3), and the GV60 (1). No G70 sedans were sold during October.

4. Skoda

The Kamiq was Skoda's best-selling model in October. In August, the 130 Years Edition was added to the lineup.

Skoda had a 53.3 per cent sales increase in October 2025 compared to last year, with 515 cars sold.

The brand has had a comprehensive lineup overhaul this year, with the arrival of the new Kodiaq (including the RS variant), Superb, Elroq, and Enyaq, as well as the Octavia RS and the Karoq and Kamiq 130 Years.

With 95 examples sold during October, the Kamiq compact SUV led the brand’s sales. It was closely followed by the Kodiaq large SUV (90 examples sold), the recently introduced Elroq electric SUV (79 cars), the Octavia (60), Enyaq (57), Scala (46), Fabia (41), Karoq (39), and the Superb (8).

5. Honda

The CR-V is currently Honda's best-selling model in Australia

Rounding off the top 5, Honda had a 49.6 per cent year-on-year sales increase during October, with 1,278 cars sold.

Its mid-size CR-V SUV made up 37 per cent of the brand’s sales during the month, with 474 cars sold. It was followed by the small HR-V SUV (386 examples sold), the ZR-V (318), the Civic (88), and the Accord (12).

The sales of all of Honda’s models increased compared to October last year. Honda has also increased its year-to-date sales figures compared to last year, with 12,885 cars sold compared to 12,460 by the same time last year.
