Skoda has announced the arrival of the upgraded Octavia RS sedan and wagon, set to launch in March 2025. The models feature more power, enhanced standard equipment, and reduced pricing compared to previous iterations.

The updated 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine powering the Octavia RS now produces 195kW, representing a significant performance boost over its predecessor. Engine improvements include a switch to the Budack combustion cycle, aimed at increasing efficiency.

Additionally, the RS benefits from new engine software and a sportier exhaust system, designed to enhance driving dynamics and deliver a more engaging experience. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front differential lock, these updates should ensure strong performance while maintaining good efficiency.

Previously, CarSauce had concerns about the 2024 model’s pricing, where adding options could push the price beyond $65,000 with extras. Skoda seems to have addressed that: for 2025, features previously included in the Premium Pack, such as "Suedia" upholstery, tri-zone climate control, and a CANTON audio system, are now standard, offering better value with reduced pricing.

The sedan starts at $58,490 before on-roads, and the wagon at $59,990 before on-roads. This represents a price drop of up to $1,470 compared to similarly equipped 2024 models.

The infotainment system, carried over from the previous model, features a 13-inch display with satellite navigation. However, the touch-sensitive climate and infotainment controls, which received mixed feedback in our 2024 review for being less intuitive, remain unchanged. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality continue to be standard, along with a heated steering wheel and wireless phone charging.

Safety remains a strong point for the Octavia RS, retaining its ANCAP 5-star safety rating and comprehensive suite of features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and rear side airbags. The inclusion of Traffic Jam Assist, which combines adaptive cruise and lane centering for stop-and-go traffic, further enhances safety and convenience for 2025.

The Octavia RS will be available in Candy White Solid, Mamba Green Solid, Moon White Metallic, Brilliant Silver Metallic, Graphite Grey Metallic, Black Magic Pearlescent and Race Blue Metallic paint, with a single premium metallic option – Velvet Red, for an additional $770.
