MG Motor Australia has launched its first-ever dual-cab ute, the MGU9, now available at dealerships nationwide with drive-away pricing from $52,990.

Available in three variants - Explore, Explore X, and Explore Pro - the MGU9 is powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged diesel four-cylinder engine producing 160kW and 520Nm, paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and a BorgWarner four-wheel drive system.

All variants support 3,500kg braked towing capacity and 750kg unbraked.

From 24 October to 9 November, MG dealerships are hosting a limited-time test drive event.

Customers who participate and place an order will receive $1,000 in complimentary accessories and a special gift package.

MG has also revealed a full range of official accessories for the MGU9, including 18- and 20-inch sport rims, roof racks, ladder racks, towbars, and various tonneau covers, in collaboration with HSP Vehicle Accessories and Thule.

“We are incredibly proud to introduce the MGU9, our first dual-cab ute, a vehicle that embodies MG Motor’s commitment to delivering capability, quality and innovation for Australian drivers,” said MG Motor Australia CEO, Peter Ciao.

“We want customers to experience that promise first-hand, launching with a limited-time test-drive event and accessory offer. The MGU9 is designed for work, designed for play, and geared to deliver.”

The MGU9’s entry-level Explore grade includes front double wishbone and rear independent multi-link suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels, 12.3-inch infotainment and digital cluster displays, synthetic leather seats, and a comprehensive ADAS safety suite.

It also offers the largest payload in the range at 870kg.

The Explore X grade adds 19-inch alloys, heated front seats, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, voice control, and LED tub lighting, while the range-topping Explore Pro adds 20-inch alloy wheels, MG’s Smart Hatch system allowing cabin-to-tub access, front on-demand differential lock, leather seats, electric tailgate, ambient lighting, and a JBL eight-speaker sound system.
