MG Motor Australia has today announced that its MGS5 EV and IM5 models have been named ANCAP Safety Top Performers for 2025.
The independent safety authority identified these models as the leading performers in their respective vehicle segments across Australia.

The MGS5 EV secured the top position in the Small SUV category.
The ‘IM presented by MG’ IM5 sedan was awarded the top spot in the Large Car segment.

ANCAP Safety selects its top performers based on standardised test results across four key areas of assessment.
These categories include Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road User Protection, and Safety Assist.

The recognition follows the achievement of five-star safety ratings for both models under the latest testing protocols.
The results show the IM5 achieved a score of 89% for Adult Occupant Protection and 91% for Child Occupant Protection.

The MGS5 EV recorded scores of 90% for Adult Occupant Protection and 86% for Child Occupant Protection.
The IM5 sedan is built on a 'digital' chassis that integrates control for steering, braking, suspension, and electric drive.

It features a four-wheel steering system designed to provide a smaller turning circle and increased stability during high-speed manoeuvres.
The model includes a full suite of crash avoidance technologies and autonomous emergency braking systems.

The MGS5 EV is a battery-electric small SUV featuring advanced safety technology and a dynamic electric drivetrain.
It is equipped with standard safety features including dual frontal, side chest, and side head-protecting airbags, as well as a centre airbag.

The vehicle also includes lane support systems and speed assistance technology as part of its standard equipment.
Both the IM5 and MGS5 EV are supported by MG Australia’s network of more than 100 dealerships.

The manufacturer provides a 10-year warranty for these vehicles when they are serviced at authorised MG dealerships.
These models join MG’s broader range of five-star rated vehicles, which includes the MG ZS, MG HS, MG QS, MGU9, MG7, and MG4 EV.
