Nissan has revealed details of its local tuning program for the 2026 Navara in its latest teaser video ahead of the fifth-generation ute model’s global unveiling on November 19th.

The program is headlined by local suspension tuning carried out by Melbourne-based engineering company, Premcar, whose previous expertise includes work on performance Ford Falcons in the late 1990s and early 2000s, as well as on the off-road-enhanced Nissan Warrior models.

The latest teaser reveals new testing footage of the 2026 Nissan Navara

Premcar and Nissan first worked together on the Navara N-Trek Warrior in 2019, followed by the Pro-4X and SL Warrior variants in 2021 and 2022, respectively. The Warrior nameplate then expanded to the Patrol large SUV model in 2023.

Nissan Warrior Lineup

Since Nissan and Premcar first collaborated, over 12,000 Warrior examples have been sold in Australia alone.

Earlier this year, the Warrior nameplate expanded outside of Australia, with the Navara Pro-4X Warrior launching in South Africa in April. The Nissan Navara N-Trek Warrior was also launched in New Zealand in 2020.

Now, Premcar has played a role in the development of the new non-Warrior Navara model. The local testing program evaluated the Navara’s capabilities unladen, fully laden, towing, on a variety of road and surface types, and in urban and off-road environments.

“We were cooperating with Premcar to make sure all the ride and handling performance we want from the new Navara is delivered,” Nissan Australia’s Senior Manager of Local Product Development and Enhancement, Tim Davis, said in the latest teaser.

“They’ve put it through a brutal local tuning and testing program right here in Australia.”

The Mitsubishi Triton – with which the new Navara is closely related – also received local tuning, although this is understood to have been carried out in a joint effort between Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) and the wider Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC).

Pricing and specification details for the new Navara are yet to be confirmed, although more information is expected at the ute’s global unveiling next week.

The fifth-generation Nissan Navara is set to launch in Australia in the first half of 2026.
