Renault Australia has officially confirmed the introduction of the all-new Symbioz SUV to the local market.
Scheduled for arrival in the second half of 2026, the new model forms part of a major product rollout involving six new vehicles over 18 months.

The Symbioz is positioned within the small SUV segment and will be available with two electrified powertrain options.
This launch marks the introduction of the first full hybrid vehicle for the brand in Australia.
Based on WLTP testing, the full hybrid variant is capable of achieving a driving range of up to 1000km.

The full hybrid powertrain consists of a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine paired with a 36kW electric motor and a 1.4kWh battery.
It is designed to operate on electric power during initial acceleration up to 60km/h, which Renault states can reduce urban fuel consumption by up to 40 per cent.
A mild hybrid version will also be offered, featuring a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 104kW and 245Nm.
This powertrain is coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Measuring 4412mm in length with a 2639mm wheelbase, the Symbioz sits between the Arkana and the recently launched Duster in size.
The vehicle utilises the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance CMF-B architecture, which also underpins the Clio and the Duster SUV.
Interior technology includes a 10.4-inch portrait-oriented infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
The cabin incorporates Google Built-In connected services and a sliding rear seat to optimise boot capacity.

Available high-grade features include a premium Harman Kardon audio system and 18-inch or 19-inch alloy wheels.
The model also features a 'Solarbay' panoramic sunroof with dimmable liquid crystal technology that eliminates the need for a physical blind.
Standard safety equipment includes autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Glen Sealey, General Manager of Renault Australia, said the Symbioz is well positioned to offer motorists hybrid choices in a competitive segment.
“The new Renault Symbioz delivers European design, European handling, and excellent fuel economy in a roomy, comfortable package,” Sealey said.

“What you are witnessing is a major model revitalisation of Renault in Australia,” he added.
“We promised six new models over an 18 month period and the new Renault Symbioz is part of that rollout."
Pricing and full local specifications are expected to be announced closer to the vehicle's showroom debut in late 2026.

What is the difference between the two hybrid options?
The mild hybrid variant features a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission for improved efficiency, while the full hybrid model combines a 1.8-litre engine with an electric motor that enables electric-only driving at speeds up to 60km/h and recharges its battery through energy recovery during braking and coasting.
How far can the Full Hybrid travel on a single tank?
Based on WLTP testing standards, the full hybrid version of the Symbioz provides a total driving range of up to 1000km and is designed to reduce fuel consumption by as much as 40 per cent during stop-start city driving when compared to a standard internal combustion engine.
What is the ‘Solarbay’ sunroof?
The Solarbay panoramic sunroof utilises Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal technology which allows segments of the glass to be dimmed or turned opaque on demand via electronic control, effectively blocking out sunlight and heat without the need for a traditional mechanical fabric blind.
Where does the Symbioz sit in the Renault SUV lineup?
The Symbioz is categorised as a small SUV that occupies the larger end of its segment, positioning it between the Arkana and the recently released Duster in the local range while serving as a larger and more technologically advanced alternative to the previously sold Captur.
