Ford Racing – formally Ford Performance – are set to tease an all-new road car in Detroit early next year.

While the launch event  – set for January 15th, occurring during the 2026 Detroit Auto Show – is primarily dedicated to Ford’s motorsport activities, the brand’s new production road car will be teased during the event.

While focusing on Ford's motorsport activities, the new road car will be teased at Ford Racing Season Launch in January (Raptor T1+ pictured above)

“For the first time ever, fans worldwide will also get an exclusive sneak peek at an all-new Ford Racing production road car – a testament to how deeply we’re integrating our racing innovation into the vehicles you drive every day,” Ford Racing’s Global Director, Mark Rushbrook wrote on Ford’s in-house blog, From the Road.

No concrete details on the vehicle have been provided as of yet, aside from the new model having some kind of performance pedigree. While its powertrain remains a mystery, Rushbrook’s blog post describes the upcoming era as “ambitious and electrifying.”

While this possibly alludes to Ford’s joint F1 powertrain effort with Red Bull, as modern F1 powertrains are hybrids and Ford re-enters the championship next year, this could potentially hint at some kind of electrified offering.

While none of Ford Racing's current road car lineup has an electrified powertrain, there are electric vehicles within the sub-brand's wider stable, such as the SuperVan 4.2, pictured above at Mount Panorama

Ford Racing’s current road car lineup consists of the Mustang GTD and the Explorer ST, as well as the Bronco, F-150 and Ranger Raptor variants (with a Raptor R also available for the F-150).

None of the Ford Racing road cars are currently offered with any sort of electrified powertrain.

However, Ford Racing do have electrified vehicles within its wider, non-road legal stable, such as the SuperVan and Super Mustang Mach-E demonstration vehicles

Early speculation on what the new model could be also puts forward an even faster version of the Mustang GTD – which has recently been spotted testing on the Nürbugring – as a possibility, or even a successor to the Ford GT flagship supercar. A new Raptor model also remains a possibility.

Further details on the Ford Racing launch event are expected in the coming weeks.
