The 2025 MG Cyberster line-up has expanded, with the introduction of a new – and more affordable – version of the electric convertible.

MG has announced the new Cyberster will be available with a single electric motor driving the rear wheels, joining the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version announced for Australia in late 2024.

While power is down from 375kW in the all-wheel-drive Cyberster to 250kW – and torque also dropping from 725Nm to 475Nm – the electric sportscar is available from $99,900 before on-road costs, compared to $115,000 before on-road costs for the AWD variant.

However, the Cyberster RWD retains its 77kWh battery pack, with wheels decreasing in size from 20 to 19 inches – improving its driving range from a claimed 500km to 552km on the more lenient NEDC test.

Using the more accurate WLTP test, the Cyberster’s range increases from 442km to 507km.

The drop in performance has also affected its 0-100km/h time, with the new Cyberster RWD completing the sprint in 5.2 seconds – compared to 3.2 seconds for the dual-motor model.

Exterior colours are shared across the two variants – with white, silver, grey, yellow, red, and blue available – but the RWD variant gets a cabin trimmed in nappa leather, rather than a sports interior in Alcantara, as is the case with the AWD Cyberster.

Also standard is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and dual flanking 7.0-inch touchscreens, featuring wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and DAB+ digital radio.

The Cyberster RWD also keeps its coolest party trick: supercar-style ‘scissor’ doors.

As with all MG models, the Cyberster comes with a 10-year/250,000km factory warranty, while the convertible roof is covered by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.

The 2025 MG Cyberster RWD is available to order from $99,900 before on-road costs.
