The updated Denza D9 has been revealed and could be set to join Australia’s burgeoning premium people mover ranks.
While unconfirmed, Denza’s local website has a blurred silhouette of a people mover, suggesting it’s a case of when rather than if the D9 will join the likes of the Zeekr 009, Lexus LM and GAC M8 in offering three rows of leather-lined luxury.
As reported by Car News China, with information sourced from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the updated Denza D9 scores a big power boost.

The front-mounted electric motor increases from 230kW to 340kW, while all-wheel drive models now incorporate a 70kW rear electric motor (up from 45kW) for a total of 410kW.
All told, this is an improvement of 135kW, which should cut a substantial chunk off the previous 6.9sec 0-100km/h time for the Premium AWD variant (FWD 9.5sec).

No revised battery specifications or range has currently been released, but given the D9’s kerb weight has increased from 2865kg to 3015kg, it seems reasonable to assume a larger battery has been fitted than the current 103.4kWh pack.
This should increase range over the current 580km claimed maximum (FWD 600km), though this is a more lenient NEDC number rather than the WLTP figure more typically used in Australia.

Measuring 5250mm long, 1960mm wide and 1920mm tall with a 3130mm wheelbase, the D9 is a fraction larger than a Kia Carnival by 95mm in length, 5mm in width, 135mm in height and 40mm in wheelbase.
This gives it a minimum of 410 litres of luggage space, expanding to a maximum of 2310 litres with the rear rows folded.

In top-spec Premium AWD guise, the D9 has an incredible array of standard equipment, including heated, ventilated and massage powered front seats in the first two rows, reclining middle-row seats, a panoramic sunroof, NAPPA leather, a 14-speaker Dynaudio stereo, head-up display, 15.6-inch infotainment screen and a cooler box in the centre console to name just a few.
CarSauce will bring you further news of the Denza D9’s Australian arrival, including pricing and specifications, as it becomes available.
