GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group) is set to make its Australian debut in November 2025, with the Chinese car company launching three models locally.

The brand's Australian model lineup will consist of the AION V electric mid-size SUV, the M8 PHEV seven-seat MPV, and the EMZOOM compact SUV.

Entering the increasingly competitive electric SUV market, the AION V was launched in China last year, and its European launch followed in September 2025.

AION V Electric SUV

Measuring 4,605mm long, 1,854mm wide, and 1,686mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,775mm, the AON V is a similar size to the Geely EX-5, which it will likely compete against in the electric mid-size SUV space, along with the likes of the BYD Atto 3 and the Leapmotor C10 EV.

The AION V rides on the AEP 3.0 platform, which is also used by the Toyota bZ3X sold in China.

Powered by a front-mounted electric motor – producing 150kW and 210Nm – with electricity sourced from a 75.26kWh LFP battery, the AION V is good for a claimed 510km of range on the WLTP cycle.

Meanwhile, the M8 PHEV – badged in China as the second-generation Trumpchi M8, which was released in 2022 – enters Australia’s electrified people mover space. While local pricing is yet to be confirmed, other vehicles occupying this space include the Kia Carnival Hybrid and the electric LDV Mifa 9 and Zeekr 009

GAC M8 PHEV MPV

Its hybrid powertrain boasts a combined system output of 140kW and 330Nm, as well as a claimed electric-only driving range of 106km on the WLTP cycle and a total driving range of 1,032km.

Finally, the EMZOOM compact SUV is expected to rival the likes of the Chery Tiggo 4, Mahindra XUV 3XO, GWM Haval Jolion, and the MG ZS.

GAC EMZOOM

Like the M8, the EMZOOM is also sold as a Trumpchi in China, specifically the GS3 EMZOOM, initially launching in February 2023.

Australian specs are yet to be confirmed, but power is expected to come from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine – putting out 130kW and 270Nm – paired with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

Further details on all three models are expected closer to their Australian launch.
