Geely Auto Australia has announced a significant battery and equipment upgrade for its inaugural local model, the Geely EX5.
As the brand approaches its first anniversary of sales in the Australian market, the updated mid-sized electric SUV is now arriving in showrooms across the country with customer deliveries commencing today.
The Geely EX5 was a top-five best-selling battery electric vehicle in 2025, with over 4,000 units sold since its March launch.

The primary enhancement is a new 68.39kWh "Short Blade" lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, developed as a direct competitor to the BYD "Long Blade" LFP battery technology.
This replaces the outgoing 60.22kWh unit, providing an increase of 8.17kWh in total capacity.
For the entry-level EX5 Complete, the WLTP-rated driving range has increased by 45km to a total of 475km.
The flagship EX5 Inspire now offers a 450km WLTP range, representing a 40km improvement over the 2025 model.

In addition to the battery upgrade, Geely has added a cargo blind and a Mode 2 charging cable as standard equipment across the range.
A new "Jungle Green" premium paint option has also been added to the colour palette due to popular demand.
The battery technology has undergone Geely's rigorous "Devil’s Test" - which includes immersion in corrosive seawater, extreme hot & cold environments, high-frequency scraping from below, 26 tonne overweight rolling, side collision, and exposure to open flames.
The updated range carries a $1,000 price increase across both variants to account for the larger battery and additional features.

All Geely EX5 models continue to be sold with the Geely Care+ aftersales program.
This includes a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty and an eight-year, unlimited-kilometre battery warranty.
Owners also receive up to seven years of complimentary roadside assistance through the national dealer network.
The vehicle retains its five-star ANCAP safety rating, which was awarded following testing in early 2025.
