Suzuki Australia has issued a voluntary safety recall for the 2025 Fronx Hybrid following an independent safety assessment.
The recall affects 249 units in the Australian market, and follows a one-star safety rating issued by the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) on December 22, 2025.

The manufacturer and the safety body have both identified a critical mechanical issue involving the vehicle's restraint systems.
The recall notice, designated REC-006520, identifies a manufacturing defect in the left rear seat belt retractor mechanism.
Internal investigations suggest the mechanism may not operate as intended during a collision or hard braking.

This failure can result in the release of excessive seat belt length, potentially leaving occupants unrestrained.
The defect was first observed during ANCAP’s full-width frontal crash test, where a test dummy struck the rear of the front seat.
Suzuki Australia has advised all owners of affected vehicles to immediately cease using the rear seats.
The company is currently contacting customers within the identified VIN range to provide further instructions.
A thorough and disciplined investigation is being conducted in coordination with Suzuki Motor Corporation in Hamamatsu, Japan.
Pending the completion of this review, the manufacturer will facilitate rectification activities to ensure vehicle safety.

The ANCAP evaluation revealed that the Fronx Hybrid narrowly reached the threshold for a one-star rating.
Assessors recorded poor levels of occupant protection for both adults and children during key impact tests.
Child occupant protection scores for 10-year-old and 6-year-old dummies were capped at zero points due to high head acceleration and neck tension.
ANCAP noted that while the seatbelt failure is serious, the low rating also reflects broader deficiencies in structural integrity and restraint effectiveness.
This is the second Suzuki model in recent months to receive a one-star rating, following a similar result for the Suzuki Swift in late 2024.
The Swift’s rating was eventually upgraded to three stars in September 2025 after the manufacturer implemented structural reinforcements.
More than 1,600 units of the Fronx have been sold in Australia since its local introduction in August 2025.
