It’s gold stars all ’round – five of them, in fact – in the latest ANCAP results with every vehicle scoring maximum marks.
The Leapmotor B10, Geely Starray EM-i, Zeekr 7X, Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe and Kia EV4 all received five-star ratings, while the Toyota bZ4X, its Subaru Solterra twin and the MG HS received updates to their existing five-star ratings.

All vehicles were tested under ANCAP’s 2023-2025 criteria, however, rather than the latest 2026 ratings system.
Of those tested, the Leapmotor B10 was a standout, scoring 93 per cent for adult occupant protection, 95 per cent for child occupant protection – the equal-highest score ever recorded under the 2023-2025 criteria – 84 per cent for vulnerable road user protection and 86 per cent for safety assist.

The Geely Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid also scored strongly across the board, with 90 per cent, 87 per cent, 86 per cent and 82 per cent for the same criteria respectively.
Proving a coupe bodyshell is no barrier to occupant safety, the Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe scored 93 per cent for adult protection, 86 per cent for children, 87 per cent for vulnerable road users and 84 per cent for safety assist.

The facelifted Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra – vehicles built from October 2025 – will retain a five-star rating but with updated scores of 88 per cent, 86 per cent, 80 per cent and 82 per cent following specification updates.
Petrol variants of the MG HS already carried a five-star rating, but this has been extended to hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants following additional testing to ensure comparable crash performance and the integrity of the high voltage systems.

According to ANCAP Chief Executive Officer, Carla Hoorweg: “As more new models and emerging brands arrive on our roads, independent safety assessment remains critical.
“ANCAP testing provides customers with clear, comparable information and ensures vehicles meet the highest standards for protection, regardless of badge or price point.”
