The 2026 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series Hybrid will arrive in Australia in the first half of 2026.

After months of speculation – amplified with the reveal of the Lexus LX700h in October 2024 – Toyota has officially announced that the LandCruiser will be gaining hybrid power, arriving in Australia in the first half of 2026.

While the 250 Series LandCruiser Prado gained mild-hybrid power in late 2023 and was badged as the LandCruiser in North America, the reveal of this new 300 Series variant marks the first time a hybrid powertrain is to be used in a true flagship LandCruiser.

A petrol 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 is joined by an electric motor in a parallel hybrid system arrangement, and while Australian specs are yet to be confirmed, overseas figures from Toyota state that the hybrid LandCruiser will produce 341kW and 790Nm, making it the most powerful LandCruiser ever made.

This heralds a notable performance upgrade over the 3.3-litre twin-turbo diesel V6 currently offered in Australia, which produces 227kW and 700Nm.

With the confirmation of this new hybrid powertrain, it now seems increasingly likely that the upcoming Lexus LX700h will adopt the same setup, following a recent Australian trademark filing, as reported by CarSauce.

In fact, this powertrain is already offered in the Toyota Tundra, which is currently on sale in Australia.

The LandCruiser Hybrid is set to share its powertrain with the Lexus LX700h (pictured)

This also marks the return of petrol-powered LandCruisers in Australia for the first time since the petrol V8 variant of the 200 Series left the Australian market in 2019.

More details on the LandCruiser Hybrid will be revealed closer to its Australian release.
