Toyota RAV4 sales declined 65.4 per cent year-on-year in January 2026, with the mid-size SUV selling just 1757 examples compared with 5076 sales 12 months earlier.
However, rather than being cause for alarm, the outgoing RAV4 is merely a victim of its own popularity.

It recorded a whopping 6038 sales in December 2025, with buyers clamouring to secure runout examples of the current generation model, though a Toyota spokesperson made a point of stating to CarSauce that no incentives have been offered.
This popularity has left Toyota dealers running low on stock, with sales expected to fall further over the next two months before the arrival of the new-generation RAV4 in late-March.

It’s a similar story to a lesser extent with the Toyota HiLux, sales of which dipped 18.6 per cent year-on-year as production of the new-generation model ramps up.
Once again, despite the strong continued sales, a Toyota spokesperson said no incentives have been offered.

Toyota’s supply issues led to a 22.3 per cent drop in sales year-on-year, but it still finished January 2026 as a dominant number one in the Australian car market, its 14,310 sales almost double that of second-placed Mazda (7692 sales).
Toyota finished 2025 with 239,863 sales, ahead of Ford (94,399), Mazda (91,923), Kia (82,105) and Hyundai (77,208).
