The Audi Q9 appears to be a step closer to a local launch, with an Australian trademark registration for the model uncovered by CarSauce.
Audi filed the trademark application in Australia on August 31st 2025, before it was later registered on November 10th.
After years of speculation, on the 31st of October 2025, the Audi Q9 was officially confirmed for a global unveiling in 2026 in a media release from the brand.

In the lead-up to the announcement, the Q9 – and a version of the vehicle sporting quad exhausts expected to be the sportier SQ9 variant – has been spotted testing on the open roads several times (spy shots by SH Proshots).
The Q9 is expected to be Audi’s flagship three-row SUV, set to do battle with the likes of the BMW X7 and the Mercedes-Benz GLS.
It will most likely be positioned above the five-seat Audi Q8 and the seven-seat Audi Q7, the latter of which is set for a new model generation in 2026.
The Q9 will likely ride on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture, which it will share with the current A5 and Q5, as well as the incoming Q7.

Local pricing is yet to be confirmed, but the Q9’s price tag will likely be comparable to its BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS rivals, which start from $172,500 and $171,000 before on-road costs, respectively.
Powertrain details are also yet to be announced, but the PPC architecture supports petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
While the recent trademark filing hints at an Australian launch of the Audi Q9, it does not serve as absolute confirmation of the model’s local arrival.
Further details on the Audi Q9 are expected closer to its official debut in 2026.
