The 2025 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X is making a return – but the rugged off-road ute will be limited to just 750 examples.

Ford originally released the Ranger Wildtrak X in 2023, but has brought the variant back in 2025 to close the gap between the popular Wildtrak and the range-topping topping Ranger Raptor.

Designed as a more hardcore off-road version of the Wildtrak, the X features Bilstein shock absorbers with external nitrogen-filled reservoirs, a heavy-duty power-steering system with shielding, additional LED spotlights, heavy-duty side steps, a rack system in the tub with adjustable sailplane, and a steel bash plate at the front.

The Wildtrak X has also been given a 30mm wider wheel track, and a 26mm increase in ground clearance.

Along with several minor styling changes to the exterior, the interior has been given a refresh, with an overhead auxiliary switch panel, branded rubber floor mats front and rear, embroidered leather and suede seats, suede highlights, and orange contrast stitching.

You’ll have to take our word for it though, as Ford hasn’t provided any images of the Wildtrak X’s interior.

Underneath, the Ranger Wildtrak X rides on two-tone machine-faced 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in General Grabber all-terrain tyres.

Also standard is a 400-watt power inverter in the cabin and the tray, Ford’s Pro Trailer Backup Assist, as well as Rock Crawl drive and Train Turn Assist – which helps get the ute around tight hairpins on off-road tracks.

However, while Ford’s 184kW/600Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 is available as an option on the standard Wildtrak, the X is solely powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine making 150kW and 500Nm – matched with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The announcement follows the limited-edition Ranger Tremor, based on the mid-spec Ranger Sport, which comes with many of the same off-road goodies found on the Ranger X – but for less money.

But while the Ranger Tremor was limited to 1150 vehicles, the latest Ranger Wildtrak X will be capped at just 750.

The 2025 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X can be ordered in six different exterior colours, and is priced from $77,640 plus on-road costs – with deliveries to begin in the first quarter of 2025 (January to March inclusive).
