2024 Toyota LandCruiser Prado Price and Specs: Enhanced Tech, Performance, and Safety

Toyota is set to release the fifth-generation of its LandCruiser Prado in Australia later this year.

This new model includes updates in performance, technology, and features across its variants.

The forthcoming Prado model will introduce changes such as a new platform and an updated powertrain that incorporates Toyota's V-Active 48V technology.

Enhancements also include a new eight-speed automatic transmission, electric power steering and park brake, and an increased maximum towing capacity. Updates extend to improvements in safety features and connectivity options.

Sean Hanley, Toyota Australia's Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Franchise Operations, noted that these changes aim to address customer demands for a robust and well-equipped off-road vehicle.

He stated that the new model combines performance, efficiency, and comfort suitable for diverse environmentsfrom off-road journeys to daily commutes.

The vehicle lineup, ranging from the base model GX to the higher-end VX and Kakadu trims, will see upgraded equipment levels.

The GX model, priced at $72,500, will now feature LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a redesigned interior that includes automatic climate control and improved connectivity features.

It also introduces a new platform and an updated 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine that integrates a 48V electric system designed to enhance fuel efficiency and driving performance.

The GXL model, often preferred by customers, will include features like synthetic leather seats with adjustable settings, heating and ventilation for front seats, and a new parking support brake system.

Additional amenities such as rear-seat air-conditioning and extra USB-C ports are included to enhance passenger comfort.

Each model in the new Prado range will be equipped with Toyota's latest safety technologies, including a pre-collision system, adaptive cruise control, and a driver monitoring system capable of stopping the vehicle under certain conditions if the driver is unresponsive.

Further details, including a comprehensive pricing structure, are expected to be released as the launch date nears.

The new generation continues to offer the Toyota Warranty Advantage, covering five years with unlimited kilometres, with an extension available up to seven years for the engine and driveline.
