Denza is rolling out a free over-the-air software update for its B5 and B8 SUVs in Australia, adding changes aimed at towing, off-road driving, safety and everyday convenience.

The OTA Version 1.1.0 update is now being delivered digitally to customers, meaning owners can receive the changes without visiting a dealership.

Denza says the update follows customer feedback and work by local engineers to tune the B5 and B8 for Australian driving conditions.

For the B5, the towing changes add cruise control while towing, a dedicated towing mode switch and trailer weight selection, which allows the vehicle to adjust performance parameters for stability and safety.

For the B8, Denza has added cruise control in towing mode and dynamic range estimation.

The update also includes revised traction control management algorithms for the Dual Mode Off-Road platform, designed to better coordinate wheel speed and motor torque.

Denza says lessons from its Queensland off-road testing, including the earlier Beer O’Clock Hill evaluation, were used by local engineers to further refine the system.

Both models also gain head-up display turn signal visibility and a driver password lock.

The B8 receives an additional safety change for its second- and third-row folding seats, with improved anti-jam resistance designed to stop the seats folding if resistance is detected.

Denza Australia Chief Operating Officer Mark Harland said the update was shaped by customer feedback and local use.

“We are listening to customer feedback, not only through our local engineering team but also through real-world experiences shared by owners driving on Australian roads and tracks,” Mr Harland said.

“Whether it’s improved towing capability, greater off-road confidence or enhanced convenience and safety features, these updates are designed to deliver meaningful improvements that customers will notice in everyday driving.”

The update marks Denza’s first major OTA upgrade for the B5 and B8 in Australia, with the brand using software changes to adjust vehicle behaviour after launch.
