BYD's 850kW Electric Super Wagon Confirmed for Australia
BYD’s luxury DENZA Z9GT hits Australia in Q3 2026, featuring 850kW, a 9-minute charge time, and a 1,036km range.
The DENZA Z9GT luxury grand tourer is officially confirmed for the Australian market.
Parent company BYD’s luxury subsidiary announced the vehicle will feature at the upcoming 2026 Melbourne Motor Show.
Initial customer deliveries are expected to commence during Q3 of this year.
This model will be the first in Australia to feature BYD’s next-generation Blade Battery 2.0 technology.
The vehicle utilises a FLASH ultra-fast charging system capable of a 1,500kW DC peak.
Charging from 10 per cent to 97 per cent is estimated to take approximately nine minutes.
Selected dealerships in Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide will begin installing compatible charging infrastructure in late 2026.
The Z9GT is built on the e3 platform and features a triple-motor powertrain system for enhanced manoeuvrability.
The setup produces an estimated 850kW of power, enabling a 0-100km/h sprint in 2.7 seconds, rivalling a Porsche 911 Turbo S and Lamborghini Revuelto.
Overseas testing under CLTC standards indicates a maximum driving range of 1,036 kilometres, though local performance specifications remain subject to final Australian Design Rules testing and verification.
In China, the Z9GT is priced between 269,800 yuan (approximately $58,000 AUD) and 369,800 yuan (approximately $80,000 AUD).
Final Australian pricing is expected to be positioned north of $100,000 due to shipping, taxes, and local luxury positioning.
Detailed local pricing and trim specifications will be released closer to the Q3 launch date.
For ride stability, the vehicle employs the DiSus-A air suspension system.
The e3 platform includes software designed to maintain vehicle control during high-speed tyre blowouts.
This system manages power delivery, steering behaviour, and braking in milliseconds to ensure occupant safety.
The mechanical architecture is designed to balance high-performance output with long-distance touring comfort.
The interior design features Nappa leather seating with integrated massage and ventilation functions.
Technological highlights include a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display and a Devialet audio system.
A built-in refrigerator and 128-colour ambient lighting are also included as standard interior features.
The design was the result of a collaborative project involving more than 1,200 engineers and designers under the direction of Wolfgang Egger.
DENZA Australia Chief Operating Officer Mark Harland provided comment on the vehicle's local positioning.
“The DENZA Z9GT proves that electrification can deliver not just efficiency, but exhilarating performance, extraordinary safety and genuine long-distance usability,” Mr Harland said.

Deliveries are scheduled to commence in the third quarter (Q3) of 2026. Selected DENZA dealerships in Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide are expected to have dedicated FLASH ultra-fast charging sites operational by the fourth quarter of the same year.
The Z9GT currently claims a world record for a production pure electric vehicle with a maximum CLTC range of 1,036 kilometres. While CLTC figures are often optimistic compared to real-world Australian conditions, the 100kWh battery pack is engineered specifically for long-distance touring.
Thanks to the new Blade Battery 2.0 and a 1,500kW peak DC charging capability, the Z9GT can charge from 10 per cent to 97 per cent in approximately nine minutes. This FLASH charging system is designed to provide hundreds of kilometres of range in the time it takes for a short break.
While official local pricing has not been locked in yet, the Z9GT is priced between approximately $58,000 and $80,000 AUD in China. Considering luxury positioning, shipping, and local taxes, Australian pricing is widely expected to land north of $100,000.
