Chinese pricing and specifications have been confirmed for the Tesla Model Y L as orders for the six-seat, long-wheelbase variant of the popular mid-size electric SUV have opened.

The Model Y L broke cover last month when it was detailed in a sales licensing filing submitted to China’s Ministry of Information and Technology before being officially confirmed on Tesla’s Weibo account.

The long-wheelbase variant now sits atop Tesla’s Chinese range, priced at ¥339,000 (around $74,000). This marks a ¥25,500 increase (around $5,500) over the long-range all-wheel drive Tesla Model Y,

The wheelbase of the Model Y L grows by 150mm over the standard Model Y to 3,040mm, while overall length increases by 186mm to 4,976mm.

The Model Y L is configured in three rows of two seats, with independent seats in the second row. All of the seats are heated, with the front row also boasting seat ventilation.

The second and third rows can be folded for a total storage space of 2,539 litres, an increase of 401 litres over the standard wheelbase variant.

The Model Y L gains 9kW in power over the Chinese-spec long-range all-wheel drive Model Y – with the dual-motor powertrain producing 340kW – but loses two tenths of a second in the run from 0-100km/h, clocking a claimed time of 4.5 seconds.

Tesla claims a CLTC range of 751km, with an energy consumption of 12.8kWh per 100km.

Currently, the Tesla Model Y L has only been confirmed as a Chinese market exclusive, with no plans confirmed to sell a long-wheelbase variant in Australia or, in fact, any other market as of yet.
