GWM Australia has confirmed local pricing and grade specifications for the all-new Tank 300 Hi4-T Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), following its initial local preview in 2025.

The new variant is scheduled to arrive in Australian showrooms in March 2026, launching first with the flagship Ultra grade, followed by the Lux variant in April.

GWM has set a limited-time launch offer starting from $55,990 driveaway for the Lux and $59,990 driveaway for the Ultra.

This pricing positions the PHEV at the top of the Tank 300 range, commanding a premium over the previously range-topping Tank 300 Ultra Hybrid.

The Tank 300 Hi4-T adopts the same powertrain architecture used in the larger Tank 500 Hi4-T, which launched in Australia in late 2025.

The Tank 300 PHEV shares the same Hi4-T platform as the larger Tank 500 PHEV

The system pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 120kW electric motor to deliver a combined system output of 300kW and 750Nm of torque.

A 37.1kWh battery pack provides an electric-only range of up to 115km on the NEDC cycle, with a claimed combined fuel economy of 1.9L/100km.

In comparison, the larger five-seat Tank 500 Hi4-T offers an electric range of up to 120km and a fuel economy rating of 2.1L/100km.

Both models feature CCS2 DC fast-charging capability, allowing the battery to be replenished from 30% to 80% in approximately 24 minutes.

Despite the addition of electrified components, the Tank 300 Hi4-T maintains a traditional mechanical 4X4 system.

The hardware includes a low-range transfer case and front and rear locking differentials, unlike some electrified rivals that utilise a decoupled electric axle.

The larger Tank 500 Hi4-T variant further distinguishes itself with a triple-locking differential setup.

Both vehicles share a 3,000kg braked towing capacity and include 6kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for powering external devices.

The Hi4-T architecture also supports multiple terrain-specific drive modes designed to manage torque delivery across diverse off-road conditions.

GWM’s Chief Operating Officer, John Kett, stated that the introduction of the new variant aims to provide technology and efficiency without sacrificing utility.

“With the Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV, we’re continuing to expand our cutting-edge plug-in hybrid technology providing genuine off-road strength, all at a highly competitive price point,” said Mr Kett.

“As demonstrated across our other PHEV variants, we remain committed to delivering vehicles where customers can benefit from strong EV-only range, fast charging, V2L and true mechanical 4X4 capability. As the New Vehicle Efficiency Standards (NVES) are likely to change the Australian automotive landscape like never before, GWM stands ready to deliver more technology for less.”

Vehicles are expected to be available for delivery from early March 2026.

While core specifications have been released, GWM indicates that full final features for the Lux and Ultra grades will be confirmed closer to the official launch date.

The arrival of the Hi4-T model completes the local Tank 300 range, which now includes petrol, diesel, and standard hybrid options.
