CarSauce Buy 2.0 is out now.

The 2025 BYD Sealion 7 will be priced in Australia from $54,990 before on-road costs, with buyers given the option of two variants – Premium and Performance.

BYD's range-topping Sealion 7 Performance is priced from $63,990 plus on-road costs.

Sitting alongside the Sealion 6 in the mid-size SUV category, the Sealion 7 sits slightly lower than its BYD stablemate, but is larger in all other dimensions, while also featuring a sloping coupe-style rear-end.

Buyers will be able to choose from single Premium and dual-motor Performance variants – in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive respectively – with a 82.5kWh battery pack.

The single-motor Sealion 7 Premium comes with 230kW, for a 6.7-second 0-100km/h sprint time, while the dual-motor Sealion 7 Performance puts out 390kW and 690Nm, for a sprint time of 4.5 seconds.

BYD claims a driving range of 482 kilometres for the Sealion 7 Premium on the WLTP test, or 567km on the more lenient NEDC test – while the Sealion 7 Performance can drive up to 456km (WLTP) or 542km (NEDC) on a single charge.

Being a mid-size SUV, the BYD Sealion 7 comes with five seats – however, as reported exclusively by CarSauce, the company plans to release a seven-seater model in Australia in the future.

Inside, the Sealion 7 comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, a head-up display, a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a premium Dynaudio sound system, 360-degree cameras, and a 50-watt wireless smartphone charger with cooling.

The front power memory seats are heated and ventilated, while the rear seats and steering wheel are heated in the Performance variant.

The vehicle also features double glazing on the windscreen and front windows, a silver-infused panoramic glass sunroof to help reduce cabin temperatures, an automatic rear-view mirror, and 128-colour ambient lighting with rhythm activation.

On the safety front, the Sealion 7 comes with adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, intelligent speed limit control, driver attention warning, blind-spot detection, and predictive collision technology.

The Premium model rides on 19-inch alloy wheels, while the Performance gets 20-inch alloys clad in 245/45R20 tyres from Michelin.

Buyers will have the option of four exterior colours: Aurora White, Atlantis Grey (which appears to be blue), Shark Grey, and Cosmos Black.

BYD offers a six-year/150,000km warranty, along with an eight-year/160,000km battery warranty.
