The 2026 Xpeng G7 electric SUV has launched in China, receiving 10,000 orders in its first nine minutes on sale.

The G7 – which earlier this year was confirmed for an Australian launch in 2026 – slots into the Xpeng range between the G6 and the G9.

The G7 is set to compete against the Tesla Model Y and the Xiaomi YU7 – the latter having launched last week also with substantial and immediate sales reception – but undercuts both of them on price.

Xpeng G7 prices in China start from around the equivalent of $42,000 AUD, around $12,000 AUD less than the YU7 and $14,000 less than the Chinese pricing of the Model Y.

A single permanent magnet synchronous motor sends power to the rear wheels of all G7 variants – producing 218kW – and propels the electric SUV from 0-100km/h in either 6.6 or 6.5 seconds depending on the variant.

Electricity comes from either a 68.5kWh or 80.8kWh LFP battery depending on the spec.

Three trim levels are offered for the Xpeng G7: the 602 Max, 702 Max and 702 Ultra.

The entry-level 602 Max features a 68.5kWh LFP battery and is capable of 602km of CLTC driving range.

Standard equipment on the 602 Max includes but is not limited to heated, ventilated and massaging front and rear seats with front seat memory, an 87-inch panoramic heads-up display, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, an 8-inch rear entertainment screen, and a host of assisted driving and active and passive safety features.

The 702 Max steps up the battery capacity to an 80.8kWh LFP battery and achieves a claimed 702km of CLTC range.

The 702 Ultra tops the range, and adds 5G WiFi, an in-cabin camera, and three AI Chips to manage assisted driving and cockpit functions over the standard models.

Australian prices, features and specifications are yet to be confirmed for the Xpeng G7.
