At a major event in Wuhu, China attended by CarSauce, Omoda - a Chery sub-brand - unveiled its boldest model yet - the Omoda 4 Ultra.
The compact SUV blends Lamborghini-inspired design with hybrid performance technology and is pegged to arrive in Australia as soon as late 2026.

According to Chery representatives, the Omoda 4 Ultra delivers “the best aerodynamics in class,” featuring a large front splitter, carbon fibre wing mirrors, and a carbon rear wing that has been “aerodynamically tested for maximum downforce.”
The brand says the rear wing is the largest in its class, underscoring the performance focus of Omoda’s latest compact SUV.
A limited edition Electro Yellow launch colour will headline the model, paired with gold-painted brake calipers.

Chery also confirmed that the Ultra variant’s exterior design was developed with aerodynamic efficiency in mind, incorporating sharp body lines and functional aero elements.
Under the bonnet, the Omoda 4 Ultra uses a hybrid powertrain derived from the Tiggo 4’s SHS-Hybrid system, producing 105 kilowatts and 215 Newton-metres from its petrol engine and 150 kilowatts and 310 Newton-metres from its electric motor.
Combined output figures have not yet been disclosed, but Omoda claims the Ultra can reach 0–100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 179 km/h when in “Performance Mode.”

Engineering for the Omoda 4 Ultra involved a former performance engineer from Maserati and a former chief engineer from Jaguar Land Rover, who worked on refining the suspension and chassis. The model uses independent suspension on all four wheels.
Inside, the Omoda 4 Ultra draws clear inspiration from Lamborghini.
The centre console features a bright red flip-up start/stop switch, while the cabin also includes a digital driver’s display, a portrait-style infotainment system, ambient interior lighting, and faux leather sports seats.

Omoda says the infotainment system will feature a Chery developed LLM (large language model) AI, allowing for more natural voice control and adaptive learning.
It will also include a “Gaming Cockpit” with “13 popular games so you never get bored,” based on Android titles shown during the event.
During the presentation, Chery introduced its “Super Mecha” robots, adding an unexpected and somewhat surreal twist to the launch.

The regular Omoda 4, which will launch before the Ultra, will use a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 105 kilowatts and 215 Newton-metres.
It is expected to start below $25,000 drive-away, positioning it beneath the Omoda 5 and close to the Tiggo 4, which shares its platform.

Chery representatives confirmed to CarSauce that the Omoda 4 is pegged for an Australian launch in late 2026, with the Ultra variant to follow shortly after.
