Lepas L6 Completes Australian Testing Ahead of November Launch
Lepas has completed Australian testing for the L6 BEV ahead of its November launch, with local tuning for ADAS, software and refinement.
Lepas has completed an Australian testing and adaptation program for its L6 electric SUV ahead of the brand’s local launch in November 2026.
The new Chery Group brand says prototype vehicles have been evaluated across thousands of kilometres by head office and local engineering specialists.
The program covered metropolitan, regional and rural roads, including coarse-chip bitumen, country highways, winding mountain roads and urban environments.
Lepas says the testing also exposed vehicles to cold-weather conditions, high-temperature durability running and air conditioning performance checks.
The brand previously confirmed the L6 electric SUV for Australia in the fourth quarter of 2026, with the BEV now set to be the first Lepas model to reach local showrooms in November.
Local validation has focused on advanced driver assistance system performance, software integration and overall vehicle refinement for Australian roads.
Engineers have also assessed how the vehicle’s driver assistance systems respond to Australian road markings, signage and traffic environments.
"Australia presents some of the toughest vehicle conditions anywhere in the world," said Lucas Harris, Chief Operating Officer, Lepas Australia.
"Road surfaces vary enormously, distances are long, temperatures can be extreme and customers have very high expectations for ride, handling and refinement."
"Rather than simply bringing a global vehicle to market, we've invested significant time validating and tuning Lepas for Australian conditions, and will provide confidence for our customers."
The L6 will enter a growing electric SUV segment that includes the 2026 BYD Atto 3 and 2026 Geely EX5.
Lepas has yet to detail the full Australian model range and final specifications for the L6, with more information due closer to the brand’s local debut.
