2024 Chery Omoda 5 Price and Specs: GT Variant and Upgrades Revealed

The 2024 Chery Omoda 5, set to be available in Australia this month, includes updates across its lineup and the introduction of a new GT variant.

The GT model is equipped with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers 137kW and 275Nm, which represents an increase of 29kW and 65Nm from the standard 1.5-litre engines.

This engine is coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, replacing the continuous variable transmission (CVT) used in the previous models.

In terms of suspension, the GT variant moves from a torsion beam to an independent multi-link rear suspension.

The front-wheel-drive GT model offers a fuel consumption rate of 6.8L/100km, a slight improvement over the 6.9L/100km of the 1.5-litre turbo models. The all-wheel-drive GT version reports a fuel consumption of 7.4L/100km.

These models are now available in dealerships, and customer deliveries have started.

Updates applicable to all models in the 2024 lineup include the addition of DAB+ digital radio, a frameless auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and an enhanced 50-watt wireless phone charger.

Specific to the GT model are unique badging, a distinct suspension tuning, and larger brake rotors, increasing by 15mm in front and 30mm in the rear.

Price adjustments have been applied, with increases between $1000 and $1500 for the existing Omoda 5 models.

The front-wheel-drive Omoda 5 GT is priced at $38,990 drive-away, and the all-wheel-drive version at $40,990. Orders for all variants are currently being accepted.

In the previous year, the Chery Omoda 5 saw registrations totalling 5370 units in Australia, outperforming competitors like the Toyota C-HR and Honda HR-V. Additionally, an all-electric version of the Chery Omoda 5 is scheduled for release in mid-year.
