The 2026 Leapmotor B05 electric hatch is due in Australia from late August with two rear-drive grades, up to 482km WLTP range and launch pricing from $35,990 drive-away.
The 2026 Leapmotor B05 electric hatchback has been confirmed for Australia, with two rear-wheel-drive variants due in local dealerships from late August 2026.
Pricing starts from $35,990 drive-away for the B05 Style, while the longer-range B05 Design LR is listed at $39,990 drive-away.
Leapmotor is also advertising a $38,990 drive-away launch offer for the Design LR in Lightning Yellow, available for eligible vehicles purchased and delivered between 1 July and 30 September 2026, or while stocks last.
The B05 arrives as Leapmotor’s small electric hatch contender after its earlier global unveiling, joining the brand’s expanding Australian line-up alongside models such as the B10 electric SUV.
Two variants will be offered: Style and Design LR.
Both use a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 160kW and 240Nm, with the Design LR claiming a 0-100km/h time of 6.7 seconds.
The entry Style uses a 56.2kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and has a claimed driving range of up to 401km on the WLTP cycle.
The Design LR steps up to a 67.1kWh LFP battery and a claimed WLTP range of up to 482km.
That gives the top-spec B05 a longer claimed WLTP range than the 2026 MG4 Essence 64 at 452km and the 2026 BYD Dolphin Premium at 427km, while the 2026 GWM Ora 5 is rated at approximately 430km on the WLTC cycle.
On price, the B05 Style starts above the 2026 GWM Ora 5 Lux at $33,990 drive-away and the 2026 BYD Dolphin Essential at about $32,699 before on-road costs, but below the 2026 MG4 Essence 64 at $39,990 drive-away.
Standard equipment includes 19-inch alloy wheels, frameless doors, concealed door handles, LED lighting, a 14.6-inch touchscreen, an 8.8-inch driver display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, connected services, a 360-degree camera and an integrated dashcam recorder.
Safety and driver assistance equipment includes seven airbags, including a centre airbag, plus 21 advanced driver assistance features supported by 14 sensors and cameras.
Leapmotor lists Level 2 driver assistance, with features including Automatic Lane Change, Front Vehicle Departure Warning, Front Cross Traffic Assist and Front Cross Traffic Brake.
Both variants support 11kW AC charging.
The Design LR supports DC fast charging at up to 174kW, with claimed 30 to 80 per cent charging times of about 16 minutes for the Style and 18 minutes for the Design LR.
The B05 measures 4430mm long and 1880mm wide, with a 2735mm wheelbase.
Cargo capacity is listed at up to 1205 litres with the rear seats folded.
The B05 is covered by an eight-year/160,000km high-voltage battery warranty and a six-year/150,000km vehicle warranty.
Leapmotor also includes eight years of capped-price servicing and eight years of roadside assistance, with service intervals set at 12 months or 20,000km.
