Toyota has previewed four new vehicles set to feature at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, running from October 30th to November 9th (with press days on the 29th and 30th of October).
With a slew of concept cars, here is the rundown of Toyota's lineup for the Tokyo show.
Corolla Concept
The Toyota Corolla concept has been revealed in the form of a futuristic sedan.
While powertrain details are yet to be confirmed, the left-hand side charging flap indicates the presence of either a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Toyota are no stranger to hybrid powertrains. In Australia, save for the high-performance Gazoo models, all Toyota Corolla models currently on sale feature a hybrid powertrain.
However, the brand has only been making forays into the BEV market, launching their first mass-market electric car in Australia, the bZ4x mid-size SUV, last year.

If the new concept heralds the arrival of a fully electric Corolla, it would be the first mass-produced BEV model in the history of the long-running nameplate, while plug-in hybrid power is rumoured to arrive for the model in 2026.
Century Concept
A new Century concept will also be presented at the Japan Mobility Show.
Historically, Toyota’s luxury flagship has come in the form of a large, four-door sedan, although this changed in September 2023, with the unveiling of the Century SUV.

However, the Century has been reimagined yet again. At first glance, the new Century concept sports a coupe-like design, but in fact, it still has four doors, with two doors sliding forward at the front, while two slide rearward, providing access to what is presumably a set of back seats.

The new concept car also seems to ride higher than a conventional sedan, appearing almost SUV-like.
Powertrain details are yet to be announced by Toyota, but its bonnet vents and front grille could suggest the use of an internal combustion engine in some capacity.

Six-Wheeled Lexus LS Van
The Century isn’t the only luxury nameplate being reimagined for the Japan Mobility Show.
In the early 1990s, the Lexus LS large sedan was introduced as the brand’s first model to take on the likes of the Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series.
However, 35 years later, the LS sedan seems to be on the way out. While it is yet to be discontinued in Australia, the model was discontinued in the UK in January, with its exit from the United States market announced in September.

While we’re yet to see much of yet, the LS will seemingly be reborn in the form of a six-wheeled luxury MPV.
The van concept features two conventionally-sized wheels at the front, while six smaller wheels are used at the back.

A mock-up of the van featured during Toyota’s livestream ahead of the October show reveals a six-seater layout arranged in three rows of two.
Battery electric power seems to be the most likely powertrain option at this stage, although official details are yet to be confirmed.
Daihatsu Midget X Kei Truck
On the opposite end of the size spectrum to the Lexus LS van, Daihatsu’s iconic kei truck nameplate is making a comeback with the Midget X concept.
The original Daihatsu Midget was a three-wheeled kei truck, built between 1957 and 1962. The nameplate returned in 1996, this time with four wheels, before disappearing again in 2001.

Daihatsu’s latest concept previews an electrified version of the tiny commercial vehicle.
The Midget X has a central driving position flanked by two passenger seats, what appears to be a yoke-like steering wheel, circular LED headlights, semi-exposed wheels, and various possible cargo bed configurations.

Some of these potential configurations and use cases were showcased in Toyota’s livestream, including an open-top taxi, a coffee van, and a lifestyle outdoors version. Even racing-inspired Midget Xs are showcased in the preview.
