The new-generation 2026 Mazda CX-5 is set to be shown to the public in December 2025, according to a senior company executive.

Spanish publication La Tribuna de Automoción quotes Ignacio Beamud, President and CEO of Mazda Spain, who said: “the next [CX-5] is scheduled to be released in December”.

However, it’s unclear whether the vehicle is being unveiled globally or just for the Spanish market, with earlier unconfirmed reports claiming the model could be launching between September and November 2025.

The news comes after initial spy photos of the model were published online in January.

These illustrations by Japan’s Best Car provide an idea of what the new CX-5 could look like (above).

Earlier in 2024, the Japanese carmaker confirmed plans to “equip [the] next CX-5 with a Mazda-developed hybrid engine,” Drive reported at the time.

It’s expected the Mazda CX-5 Hybrid will have the best-selling Toyota RAV4 Hybrid firmly in its crosshairs.

While the hybrid powertrain has been confirmed by Mazda, online rumours suggest the SUV is being developed with mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid options also.
