Recent leaks have unveiled BYD's latest addition to their electric SUV lineup, the Bao 3. This medium-sized off-road vehicle, a close relative of the BYD Atto 3, distinguishes itself with a rugged design and innovative features. Set for a 2024 debut, the Bao 3 is poised to be slightly larger than the Atto 3, with dimensions surpassing its length of 4455mm, width of 1875mm, and height of 1615mm.

The Bao 3 showcases a robust, boxy aesthetic consistent with its larger counterparts, the Bao 5 and Bao 8. Notable design elements include a rectangular grille and light bar, a silver front bumper designed for enhanced approach angles, and dual-strip LED lighting. The vehicle's side profile is accentuated by pronounced wheel arches, sizeable wheels, and a compact third-row window.

The Bao 3 also boasts roof rails and a sunroof. The rear design includes a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate with a built-in reversing camera, suggesting a side-hinged tailgate.

Technologically, the Bao 3 marks a significant step for Fang Cheng Bao, BYD's subsidiary, as it is expected to be their first all-electric vehicle. It will feature a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive setup powered by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery sourced from FinDreams, another BYD subsidiary. This setup contrasts with the Bao 5, which utilizes an internal combustion engine with a plug-in hybrid system.

In terms of pricing, the Bao 3 is anticipated to fall in the range of ¥200,000 to ¥300,000 ($43,447 to $65,171) in the Chinese market. This pricing strategy positions the Bao 3 competitively against the larger Bao 5, which is priced between $61,900 and $74,700.
