Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Foxtron Vehicle Technologies, a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd. (Foxconn), to supply a battery electric vehicle developed by Foxtron.
The vehicle will be manufactured in Taiwan by Yulon Motor and is scheduled for release in Australia and New Zealand during the second half of 2026. The model forms part of Mitsubishi’s long-term Oceania product strategy through to 2030.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia CEO Shaun Westcott confirmed that the vehicle will launch locally from the outset and aligns with the company’s Momentum 2030 roadmap. It will join Mitsubishi’s current petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid lineup.
“This pure EV model is the latest step in our Momentum 2030 plan,” Westcott said. He also emphasised the significance of Australia being the first market to receive the vehicle as part of the collaboration.

The MOU outlines plans to finalise a formal agreement, allowing Mitsubishi to distribute the Foxtron-developed vehicle under its own brand.
Mitsubishi continues to invest in electrification, including updates to the Outlander plug-in hybrid EV and development of hybrid variants of the Xpander and Xforce. These models are primarily sold in the ASEAN region - an economic bloc consisting of Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Alongside the Foxtron partnership, Mitsubishi plans to expand its electrified offerings through alliances with other automotive partners. These include receiving OEM vehicles from Renault in Europe and Nissan in North America.
The announcement follows earlier speculation linking Foxconn to a potential automotive partnership, including failed talks with Nissan. Mitsubishi has now been confirmed as the first automaker to progress with a formal EV collaboration with Foxtron.
