Isuzu UTE Australia announced the addition of a 1.9-litre turbo-diesel engine option to its MU-X 7-seat SUV range for the 2024 model year, available from April 2nd, 2024.

The introduction of this engine option marks an expansion of the range, with prices starting at $47,400 RRP for the LS-M 1.9L 4x2 variant, extending to $67,990 drive-away for the top-end LS-T 3.0L 4x4 model.

The updated engine lineup for the 2024 MU-X includes the new RZ4E-TC 1.9-litre engine, producing 110kW and 350Nm, alongside the existing 3.0-litre 4JJ3-TCX engine, which offers 140kW and 450Nm.

Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission from Aisin and are available with either 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrains. The 1.9-litre engine features a combined cycle fuel economy of 7.4L/100km.

NEW 1.9L Turbo Diesel MU-X engine

The 2024 MU-X model year brings the first price increase in two years, with adjustments ranging from $500 to $2,000 across the lineup, reflecting minor updates. Despite these changes, the MU-X lineup continues to offer a range of standard equipment across all variants.

Junta Matsui, Isuzu UTE Australia's Managing Director, commented on the update, noting the company's effort to balance increasing production and transportation costs with the need to maintain competitive pricing. The inclusion of the 1.9-litre engine aims to offer a more cost-effective and fuel-efficient option for customers.

The Australian-specific RZ4E-TC 1.9-litre engine has been introduced amidst rising fuel prices, offering a quieter, torquey, and fuel-efficient option for the MU-X lineup. This engine allows for a range of over 1,000 kilometers on a full 80-litre tank under combined cycle conditions.

For the 2024 model year, the MU-X fitted with the 1.9-litre engine has a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,000kg and varied payload capacities, enhancing its versatility. All models come with Isuzu UTE Australia's Service Plus program, which includes a five-year flat-price servicing, a six-year/150,000km warranty, and up to seven-year roadside assistance.
