Genesis has announced the completion of final testing for the GV60 Magma, the brand’s first high-performance model, ahead of its world premiere later this year.

The testing program took place across multiple global environments, from California’s deserts to New Zealand’s mountains and Sweden’s snowfields.
The GV60 Magma represents the first production vehicle from the Genesis Magma program, a sub-brand dedicated to high-performance models.

Originally previewed as a concept at the 2024 New York Auto Show, the vehicle will feature unique styling and the brand’s signature magma orange paint.
Underpinned by Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP platform, the GV60 Magma is closely related to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
While official figures have not been released, it is expected to deliver power outputs in line with the Ioniq 5 N’s 430kW dual-motor all-wheel drive system, supported by upgraded cooling and performance-focused hardware.

Engineering changes include enlarged air intakes to improve thermal management, wider fenders to accommodate larger brakes, and 21-inch wheels. Interior revisions incorporate nappa leather and suede bucket seats with diamond stitching, and in concept form, seatbacks finished in the vehicle’s exterior colour.
Genesis says the GV60 Magma has been validated across a wide range of conditions to ensure both stability at high speeds and everyday usability.

Recent assessments in Korea included highway driving, mountainous roads, and laps at Inje Speedium Circuit to balance performance with refinement.
As Genesis’ first high-performance EV, the GV60 Magma will compete with established rivals including the Mercedes-AMG EQE53 and Tesla Model Y Performance.

Pricing is expected to sit above the current GV60 Performance AWD, which retails for $113,375 before on-road costs in Australia.
The GV60 Magma is scheduled to be unveiled later in 2025 as part of Genesis’ 10th anniversary celebrations.
