BYD has confirmed the ATTO 2 will launch in Australia in November 2025, arriving alongside the smaller ATTO 1.
Earlier this year, CarSauce attended a BYD media event in Shenzhen where we drove the ATTO 2 (known as the Yuan Up in China), providing an early look at what Australian buyers can expect.
The ATTO 2 is a compact SUV that will sit between the ATTO 1 and ATTO 3 in BYD’s local line-up.
Built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 with cell-to-body Blade battery construction, it is designed to offer improved rigidity and packaging efficiency.

Measuring just over 4.3 metres in length, the ATTO 2 provides an approximately 400-litre boot, expanding to around 1,300 litres with the rear seats folded.

Passenger space is generous, with an upright seating position delivering good foot, knee and headroom in the second row.

Inside, the design takes a more conventional approach than the ATTO 3, with broad dash lines and soft-touch finishes.

A large central screen (12.8-inch or 10.1-inch depending on grade) remains rotatable, and the digital instrument display sits ahead of the driver.
Features seen on test vehicles included wireless phone charging, USB-A and USB-C ports, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a panoramic sunroof with electric sunblind.

The ATTO 2 is offered globally with single-motor front-wheel-drive powertrains producing either 70kW or 130kW, with up to 290Nm of torque.
Paired with BYD’s LFP Blade battery in capacities up to 45.1kWh, WLTP-rated driving range is quoted at around 312km, though Australian specifications are yet to be confirmed.

On the road, the ATTO 2 showed light steering and a compliant ride over speed bumps, though there was some noticeable body roll through corners.
Acceleration from the 130kW variant was adequate for urban use, we measured a 0-60km/h time of 3.7 seconds.

The ATTO 2 will form part of BYD’s largest Australian expansion to date. It launches with the ATTO 1 in November 2025, followed by the Sealion 5 and Sealion 8 SUVs in early 2026, adding to BYD’s existing range of the Dolphin, Seal, Shark 6, Sealion 6, Sealion 7 and ATTO 3.
