Xpeng has previewed the Mona L03 SUV on Weibo ahead of its planned China debut in July.

The L03 will become the second model in the Mona line after the Mona M03 sedan, and the first SUV to wear the Mona badge.

Xpeng has positioned the model as a youth-focused SUV, describing it as "young people's first smart and stylish SUV".

An Australian launch has not been confirmed.

For local context, Xpeng's China-market SUV rollout is continuing while the brand prepares the G7 electric SUV for an Australian launch in 2026 to rival the best-selling Tesla Model Y.

What we know so far

The Mona L03 uses a fastback SUV body style and follows the design direction established by the Mona M03 sedan.

Xpeng has shown the car in colours including Eucalyptus Grey (an Australian native, hint hint), Midnight Black and Crescent Silver as part of its pre-launch campaign in China.

The company says the Mona naming structure uses M for sedans and L for SUVs, with the two letters forming part of the "Mona Lisa" name.

The L03 will be the Mona line's first dual-powertrain model, with both battery-electric vehicle and extended-range electric vehicle versions planned.

Xpeng Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said on Weibo the L03 will not be priced above 300,000 yuan ($64,000 AUD), while its development was benchmarked against vehicles in that price class.

The model is expected to target a lower price point around 150,000 yuan ($32,000 AUD) in China.

He also said Xpeng focused on smart driving, cabin interaction and safety for the L03.

The Mona L03 follows the M03 sedan, which launched in August 2024 and became Xpeng's best-selling vehicle.

The Mona M03 recorded 175,689 deliveries in 2025, accounting for 40.91 per cent of Xpeng's total deliveries that year.

The L03's SUV body style and dual-powertrain approach give Xpeng a broader Mona line-up as it tries to build on the M03's volume success in China.

Whether that strategy extends to Australia remains unclear.
