KGM Musso EV Missing Advertised Airbags, ANCAP Warns Australian Buyers
ANCAP says Australian KGM Musso EVs sold since November 2025 are missing advertised centre and driver knee airbags.
ANCAP has advised Australian buyers that locally supplied KGM Musso EV utes do not have two airbags previously advertised as standard equipment.
The safety body says the battery-electric dual-cab ute has been sold since its November 2025 market introduction without a centre airbag or driver knee airbag.

Those features were marketed by KGM as part of a standard suite of “8 airbags”, including references to a “front row far-side” or “front seat centre airbag”.
ANCAP says approximately 306 KGM Musso EV vehicles sold to Australian consumers are affected to the end of July 2026.
The Musso EV entered Australia as one of the country’s few electric ute options, with CarSauce covering the KGM Musso EV launch details when the model arrived locally.
A centre airbag is generally positioned inboard within the driver’s seat back and is designed to reduce injury in side impact crashes.
A driver knee airbag is housed in the lower dash beneath the steering column where fitted, and is intended to help manage occupant movement and loading during a crash.
ANCAP says the omission of these features may have an effect on occupant safety in frontal and side impact crashes.
KGM has notified ANCAP that affected advertising material was updated by 31 July 2026 to reflect the actual specification of vehicles on sale.
ANCAP says customers considering a new or used KGM Musso EV should be aware of the model’s actual safety specification.
What owners should know
Existing KGM Musso EV owners with concerns are advised to contact KGM Australia or their local KGM dealer.
ANCAP has encouraged KGM to make a production change that would see centre and driver knee airbags fitted to Australian-supplied vehicles.
The alert does not apply to the diesel-powered KGM Musso, which has been on sale since 2019.
ANCAP says the KGM Musso EV and diesel KGM Musso are distinct models, and both remain unrated by the safety body.
