JAC Motors Australia has confirmed pricing for the 2026 JAC Hunter PHEV ute, with the plug-in hybrid dual-cab to start from $49,988 before on-road costs.

That positions the entry Hunter Pro 4X4 just below the $50,000 mark previously flagged for the Hunter PHEV earlier this year.

The range will open with two grades, the Hunter Pro 4X4 and Hunter X 4X4, both using the same petrol-electric plug-in hybrid drivetrain.

JAC lists outputs at 360kW and 1010Nm of combined driveline torque, with power coming from a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and front and rear electric motors.

The claimed combined fuel consumption figure is 1.6L/100km on the NEDC cycle, with up to a claimed 100km of EV-only range and 1005km of combined range.

Braked towing capacity is listed at up to 3,500kg, subject to towbar capacity, vehicle mass limits, axle limits and correct loading.

Payload is listed at 915kg for both Hunter grades.

The Hunter enters an increasingly active electrified ute market, including the 2026 BYD Shark 6, 2026 GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV and upcoming 2026 Chery STOCKMAN PHEV Diesel ute.

JAC says the Hunter will have completed more than 100,000km of Australian road testing before customer deliveries begin.

That program included durability, towing, load-carrying, hot-weather, on-road and off-road evaluation, led by ex-Holden engineer Michael Barber at Multimatic.

"In Australia, respect isn't given to a ute.
It's earned.
Hunter has been built, tested and proven, to earn that respect," said Ahmed Mahmoud, Managing Director of JAC Motors Australia.

Reservations are open now through JAC, with vehicles due to start arriving in showrooms from August 2026.

The first 1,000 customers to reserve and take delivery can choose between a home EV charger or a $500 JAC Genuine Accessories voucher, with the charger offer covering hardware only and not installation.

The early reservation offer applies to eligible vehicles pre-ordered online or through participating dealers and delivered by 31 December 2026, excluding fleet, government and rental buyers.
