Volkswagen has unveiled upgraded versions of their ID.4 and ID.5 electric vehicles (EVs). European pre-sales have begun for these enhanced models, which now feature a new infotainment system, software upgrades, and a more efficient drive system.

The new ID.4 and ID.5 come with an improved infotainment interface boasting a 12.9-inch screen, a faster software generation, and a redesigned cockpit for intuitive operation. Enhancements also include an updated Digital Cockpit, an optional augmented reality head-up display, illuminated touch sliders, and the new IDA voice assistant. Additionally, an optional premium sound system from Harman Kardon is available for audiophiles.

Driving performance has been enhanced significantly. The Pro versions of both the ID.4 and ID.5 now come with a high-efficiency drive that offers up to 60 kW more power, contributing to the ID.4's increased range of up to 550 km and the ID.5's range of up to 556 km on a single charge. Furthermore, the torque in these models has seen a 75% increase. The GTX versions of the ID.4 and ID.5 also benefit from an increased system power, enabling a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 5.4 seconds.

Charging capabilities have been upgraded. Rear-wheel-drive ID.4 and ID.5 models charge at 135 kW, while all-wheel-drive models now offer a DC charging capacity of 175 kW. This allows a range boost of 178 km in about 10 minutes. Additionally, the base ID.4 Pure now charges at a capacity of up to 115 kW. A new charging and thermal management system ensures efficient battery pre-conditioning for faster energy replenishment during long drives.
