Volkswagen Australia Unveils Major Product Offensive: 10 New Models Over Next 12 Months

Volkswagen Australia has laid out a comprehensive strategy for the upcoming 12 months, signalling an aggressive push to introduce ten new models, with the majority being new nameplates or next-generation vehicles.

These developments reflect the brand's ongoing efforts to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market, particularly with the increased emphasis on electric vehicles (EVs).

One of the key highlights from the announcement is the confirmation of the ID.4 and ID.5, which are now in production and expected to arrive in Australia by December.

These models will feature an all-wheel-drive 4Motion system producing up to 250 kW, with a WLTP range of up to 544 km.

Both vehicles aim to fill the gap between the Tiguan and Touareg in terms of ride quality and interior space, offering an appealing option for buyers considering a shift to EVs.

Volkswagen has indicated that the pricing for these models is close to being finalised, and they are expected to be competitive with traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) SUVs.

At a recent local press launch, Volkswagen representatives hinted that the upcoming National Vehicle Emissions Standards (NVES) regulations have played a significant role in their push for electrification in Australia.

In addition to these models, the ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo will also launch in December.

The ID. Buzz GTX, a 4Motion variant, is slated for release in Q2 2025, adding a high-performance option to the lineup.

Volkswagen's product lineup will further expand with the introduction of the new Multivan, which switches to the MQB platform.

The Multivan will initially be available with a diesel engine producing up to 360Nm of torque in a 7-seat Life variant, with a more feature-rich Style variant to follow.

The all-new Tiguan is set to arrive in Q2 2025, with three engine options: 110TSI, 150TSI, and 195TSI.

Finally, Volkswagen has confirmed that an all-new Transporter will be available in Q3 2025, with options for ICE, BEV, and PHEV powertrains.
