Toyota HiLux GR Sport to Make Its Debut at the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix

Toyota Australia has announced that the new flagship HiLux GR Sport pick-up will be displayed at the 2023 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix, offering local fans an opportunity to see the off-road variant up close. The event takes place from March 30 to April 2 at Albert Park.

The HiLux GR Sport will be showcased at the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Garage, a fan activation site that also features other GR performance cars, such as the GR Corolla hot hatch, GR86 race car, and GR Yaris AP4. The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Australia (TGRA) Rally Team will campaign the GR Yaris AP4 in the 2023 Australian Rally Championship (ARC) season, following their successful 2022 season.

Key points about the HiLux GR Sport:

  • Due to go on sale in the second half of 2023
  • Dakar-inspired design
  • Upgraded suspension, improved steering response, and wider tracks
  • Unique grille, overfenders, rock rails, skid plate, recovery points, red brake calipers, and 17-inch alloy wheels
  • Interior enhancements include sports pedals, red seatbelts, and GR logos
  • Increased power and torque, with a 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine producing 165kW/550Nm

Further information on the HiLux GR Sport, such as local pricing and launch timing, will be released closer to the vehicle's arrival in Australia.

The 2023 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix begins on March 30 and concludes with the race day on April 2.
