Mitsubishi has revealed its list of updates for the 2026 Outlander PHEV, set to hit showrooms in the first quarter of 2026, although full pricing and specifications are yet to be confirmed.
The powertrain consists of a 2.4-litre petrol engine, two electric motors, and a new 22.7kWh battery, enabling an electric-only range of 86km on the WLTP cycle. The internal combustion engine works to either generate electricity or power the front wheels as required.
System outputs are yet to be officially confirmed by Mitsubishi Motors Australia, although according to the General Manager of Product Strategy, Bruce Hampel, it will receive a power bump.

“The updated Outlander PHEV exemplifies Mitsubishi’s renowned ingenuity with its latest-generation PHEV powertrain featuring the best of both worlds. It’s also more powerful than ever before, while simultaneously improving efficiency and pure EV capability,” Mr Hampel was quoted as saying in a Mitsubishi media release.
Further upgrades include a Yamaha sound system, improved NVH (on account of its steel bonnet and front fenders), new Bridgestone summer tyres, and locally-tuned steering and suspension.
As reported in late September, the updated Outlander has retained its five-star ANCAP safety rating, with improved Rear Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring and lane support systems, restraints, centre airbags, and whiplash performance, as well as an expanded scope of Vulnerable Road User protection scenarios included among its list of enhancements. It also gains implicit speed limit detection and a driver monitoring system.
The new Outlander will be available in four different trim levels.
Kicking off the range will be the entry-level ES model grade, with its list of standard equipment including a 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED interior lighting, an around-view monitor, and cloth upholstery.

The Aspire trim level adds 20-inch alloy wheels, 5+2 seating, Black PVC upholstery, a heated steering wheel and heated front seats, an improved wireless phone charger, and additional safety features included with the Mi-Pilot system (Lane Keep Assist, Touch sensor steering vibration, and Traffic Jam Assist).
Available with five seats, the Exceed model grade adds a ventilated driver and passenger seat, a frameless rear-view mirror with a digital monitor, either black or grey leather upholstery, and aluminium pedals.
Finally, the range-topping Exceed Tourer adds massaging front seats, brown premium leather upholstery, and a 12-speaker sound system.
All variants of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV are backed by Mitsubishi’s 10-year/200,000km manufacturer’s warranty, eight-year/160,000km drive battery warranty, 10-year capped-price servicing program, and Drive Battery Care program (which ensures it retains 66 per cent of its usable energy capacity).
More details on the 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV are expected closer to its local launch.
