Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a special edition Mercedes-Maybach dubbed the V12 Edition.
Limited to a run of just 50 cars sold in select markets, the latest special edition offering from Mercedes’ ultra-luxury arm pays tribute to the first series-production Maybach to feature V12 power.
Initially launched as the Maybach 12 in 1929, the Maybach Zeppelin DS7 was powered by a 7-litre twelve-cylinder engine, producing 110kW, propelling the three-tonne luxury vehicle (depending on the coachwork option) to a top speed of 150km/h.

The Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition retains the 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 used in the regular S 680, retaining its European output figures of 450kW and 900Nm, accelerating from 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds.
It also keeps many of the S 680's luxury features, including electrically operated rear doors, active road noise compensation, and active suspension.

However, the special edition variant has been embellished with bespoke features from Mercedes’ MANUFAKTUR personalisation program.
The V12 Edition arrives with two-tone olive metallic and obsidian black exterior paint with a silver metallic pinstripe, a V12 Edition emblem on the C-pillar featuring 24-carat gold, an exclusive saddle brown Nappa leather interior with edition-specific embroidery, high gloss brown blurr walnut trim, diamond-quilted roof lining, and a 1 of 50 badge in the centre console.

It also comes with additional accessories, including silver-plated champagne flutes, and a special edition key ring and key box.
Mercedes is one of only a handful of manufacturers in Australia and indeed the world who still offer a V12-powered car. The Mercedes-Maybach S 680 on which the V12 Edition is based is the only 12-cylinder car the German marque has within its road car lineup.

Deliveries for the Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition are set to start during this year’s European Autumn, so the first of its select few customers can expect to receive their car by the end of November at the latest.
