CarSauce Buy 2.0 is out now.

A plug-in hybrid version of the Skoda Kodiaq could be added to the company’s line-up in the near future.

Speaking to CarSauce at Skoda’s Brand Day this week, newly-appointed director for the company’s Australian arm, Lucie Kuhn, confirmed the Kodiaq Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) was currently undergoing testing overseas to see if the model was suitable for Australian conditions.

The Kodiaq PHEV combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine making 110kW with an electric motor, for a combined output of 150kW and 350Nm.

Power is sent to the front wheels, with the 110TSI petrol engine mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

In Europe, Skoda claims an electric driving range of more than 100 kilometres thanks to a 25.7kWh battery pack.

Weighing in at around two tonnes, the company claims a 0-100km/h time of 8.4 seconds for the large SUV.

Despite the Kodiaq launching in Australia a year ago, the company has just re-launched an all-new generation model – part of a revamp of the brand’s line-up.

Those wanting performance will have to wait for the Kodiaq RS, which is set to arrive into Australian dealerships in late 2025.

Skoda’s new range will soon include the Enyaq and Elroq electric SUVs – however, there are currently no plug-in hybrid models on offer in Australia.
