Skoda has announced that its Enyaq SUV Coupe Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) will soon be available in Australia, with production currently taking place in the Czech Republic. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in December.

The Enyaq has seen success in Europe, with nearly 200,000 units sold to date. Two variants will be offered initially: the rear-wheel-drive Sportline and the all-wheel-drive RS.

The Sportline variant, following a mid-life update, now produces 210kW of power and offers a WLTP range of 561km. The RS variant delivers 250kW and a range of 530km. According to the release, the RS is "the most powerful production Skoda to date." Pricing for the Sportline starts at $69,990, while the RS begins at $83,990.

Updates to the Enyaq include faster DC charging at 175kW, which enables a 10-80% charge in 28 minutes. The battery system is built with individually repairable modules, aiming to extend the battery’s service life.

Skoda states that "the same MEB battery in a Volkswagen has been independently tested over 100,000km, including frequent 100% charging cycles, with capacity remaining at 93%."

In terms of features, the Enyaq includes wireless phone charging, metallic paint, and a panoramic sunroof as standard. Additionally, an optional $6,000 Ultimate Pack for the Sportline provides an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display, Adaptive Chassis Control, heated rear outboard seats, and a "Crystal Face" LED grille, among other enhancements.

Performance-wise, the Sportline accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 6.7 seconds, while the RS achieves the same in 5.5 seconds. Both models are based on Skoda's MEB platform, designed to optimize aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of 0.234.

Skoda Australia’s Head of Product and Marketing, Kieran Merrigan, commented on the launch, saying, “Australia’s BEV market is maturing rapidly and the Enyaq is an expression of that. European engineering and technology with transparency around ownership costs, underwritten by Guaranteed Future Value, backed by expert dealership – that is not a proposition that more recent entrants to the Australian market can match.”

The Enyaq also comes with a seven-year vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 160,000km battery warranty, along with an available seven-year discounted service pack.
