Rumored 2024 Suzuki Swift Sport: Pricing, New Turbo Engine and Mild-Hybrid System

Rumored 2024 Suzuki Swift Sport: Pricing, New Turbo Engine and Mild-Hybrid System

Suzuki has announced a new-generation Swift but hasn't yet introduced a Sport version. Japanese outlet Best Car reveals the Swift Sport will debut in September, hitting the Japanese market by the end of 2024.

Testing of the new Swift Sport is reportedly underway in Japan. It will feature a newly developed K14D 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system.

Transmission options will include a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. The current Swift Sport also uses a K14D 1.4-litre turbocharged engine with mild-hybrid technology but is only available with a six-speed manual in some markets.

This existing powertrain produces 96kW and 234Nm in the European model, which is 8kW less and 5Nm more than the non-hybrid model available in Australia and Japan. Power outputs for the new model remain undisclosed.

Best Car suggests the new Swift Sport will weigh under 1000kg, lighter than the European mild-hybrid Swift Sport at 1025kg and the current non-hybrid model at 970kg. Dimensions for the new model include a length of 3990mm and width of 1750mm, with height and wheelbase remaining at 1500mm and 2450mm, respectively.

In Japan, the new Swift Sport's starting price is expected to be around ¥2.3 million (~about $23,200), slightly higher than the current model's ¥2.1 million (~A$21,200). In Australia, the current Swift Sport is priced at $32,990 drive-away for the manual and $34,990 for the automatic.

The new Swift Hybrid, equipped with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and 12V mild-hybrid system, starts at $24,490 drive-away and goes up to $29,490.
