Renault are planning to bring six new or updated models to Australia within the next 18 months, with models across the entire Renault Group portfolio reportedly being considered for local release.

The Renault Group consists of Renault themselves, Dacia – who apart from the Renault-badged Duster, do not offer their vehicles in Australia – and Alpine, who announced their return to the local market back in May with the A390 electric SUV

However, Renault remains tight-lipped about which models will be included among the six new vehicles.

“...there's a bit of water under the bridge. There's currency, there's regulatory changes, there's tariff changes rolling around the place. So it's a very dynamic environment” Said Renault Australia General Manager, Glean Sealey at the local launch of the Renault Duster.

The updated Renault Captur is expected some time in the second half of 2025

The updated Renault Captur is expected in Australia at some point in the second half of 2025, however, an exact timeline of release is yet to be confirmed.

The Renault Duster 4X4 Techno is also expected in December, but was confirmed not to be among the six incoming cars.

When asked about the possibility of the Renault Niagara ute coming to Australia – which was first unveiled as a concept back in 2023 – Sealey stated that it is “not on our portfolio today.”

A contender for an Australian release could be the retro-inspired Renault 5 E-Tech electric hatchback and its Alpine A290 equivalent.

Renault Australia has previously shown an interest in the Renault 5 E-Tech as CarSauce reported last year.

While the high-performance Renault 5 Turbo 3E has been confirmed for Australia, the mainstream versions of the Renault 5 E-Tech and Alpine A290 are yet to be confirmed for a local release.
