The automotive world is set to witness a significant milestone as Polestar announces the commencement of production for its eagerly anticipated Polestar 4 model. The first units are expected to reach Chinese customers before the end of 2023, with a global rollout planned for early 2024.

The inaugural Polestar 4, adorned in Snow color with the brand's signature Swedish gold details, marks a new chapter for the company. It is the first Polestar vehicle manufactured at the Hangzhou Bay factory, which is owned by Geely Holding. Notably, the factory's operation is powered by renewable electricity, including hydropower (I-REC certified) and solar energy from its rooftop installations.

Emphasizing environmental responsibility, the Polestar 4 boasts the lowest carbon footprint of any Polestar car at launch, ranging between 19.4-21.4 tCO2e. This achievement is partly due to the factory's sustainable practices, such as using a non-chrome passivator and water-based paints, implementing a dry paper box filtering system in the paint shop, and employing advanced technologies for exhaust gas treatment. Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, highlighted the Polestar 4's distinctive features, including its design, performance, and the innovative virtual rear window with a digital rear-view mirror. The model is a testament to the company's collaboration with its partners and major shareholder, showcasing a diversified and asset-light approach to manufacturing.

First unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2023, Polestar 4 is a part of the brand's expanding line-up of exclusive performance EVs. It is positioned between the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 in terms of size and pricing. From the second half of 2025, additional production is scheduled in Busan, South Korea, to cater to local and North American markets.
