Nissan has launched an online videogame, loosely based on the electric Formula E series.

Called Nismo Electric Racer Tokyo, the 8-bit-style racing game was reportedly developed with help from the Nissan Formula E Team, which collaborated with renowned Sydney-based Japanese artist, Kentaro Yoshida.

Yoshida-san was also tasked with creating a pixelated Sakura livery for Nissan’s Formula E car to help celebrate the launch of the retro game.

In Nismo Electric Racer Tokyo, players can choose from either Norman Nato or Oliver Rowland – both factory drivers for the Nissan Formula E Team – with the aim to drive for as long as possible without hitting another car.

“This is Nismo calling all racers: We need you to win the Tokyo E-Prix and take the title,” says the narrator of the game’s promotional video.

“Test your reactions at the speed of a Nissan Formula E car, as you battle your way through lap after lap of non-stop action and master the streets of Tokyo.”

You can play Nismo Electric Racer Tokyo for free by clicking here.
