New Review Rating System Launched

New Review Rating System Launched

CarSauce has announced a new rating system for its car reviews, designed to be more easily understood by readers.

Feedback from the community, along with other discussions from fans, prompted CarSauce to formulate a new way of rating cars – rather than continuing to use the widespread scoring system out of 10, which could be challenging to interpret.

Among the criticisms were the vast majority of vehicles scored using that rating tended to be grouped between 7.0 and 8.0.

Instead, new reviews will now feature a star rating for each category, while a subjective overall grade will be given – decided on by the CarSauce team – from A+ for the very best in its category to F for those rare vehicles that completely miss the mark.

Referred to as the ‘Saucey Grade’, the categories within the school-style rating system will also be tailored for the vehicle and segment to make reviews more relevant.

CarSauce Founder Matt Brand explained future reviews will also be more critically graded to help new-car buyers differentiate between vehicles in the same category.

“Our readers tell us they often use our reviews – both on the website and on YouTube – to create a shortlist for their next car purchase,” Brand said at the launch of the new rating system.

“They put their trust in us, so it’s only right that we do everything we can to give them the most accurate information possible. And present it in a way that is instantly recognisable.”

Along with the new school-style rating system, CarSauce has introduced an industry first: allowing the audience to provide their own direct feedback on the grade.

Readers can now vote on whether the grade is too low, too high, or just right – providing another layer for buyers to consider when creating their shortlist.
